by Sassy

WWE’s ECW is being broadcast from Biloxi, MS

On the Sci-Fi Channel

Ringside announcers: Joey Styles & Tazz

Ring announcer: Tony Chimel

WRESTLEMANIA XXIV is 12 days away.

The Big Red Machine Kane, weighing 323 lbs.
Vs.
Elijah Burke from Jacksonville, FL, weighing 231 lbs.

Audience favorite: Kane
My favorite: I like them both

Burke has certainly had his hands full lately facing big bullying opponents.

Burke starts off with punches to Kane’s abdomen, but Kane simply runs right over Burke. Kane picks up a boot to deliver a kick to the face and Burke rolls out of the ring and down to the floor. The ref is telling Burke to get back in the ring, Burke reaches up and grabs Kane by the leg and tries to pull him out to the floor, Kane delivers a kick that sends Burke down to the floor and then Kane goes out to the floor after him. Kane picks up Burke and slams him back first into the ring apron and then tosses him back in the ring. Kane picks Burke up and delivers a side slam and puts Kane in a chin lock. Kane releases Burke and delivers a kick to the back. Kane continues to work on Burke’s back before picking him up and body slamming him to the mat. Kane again has Burke in a chin lock. Burk manages to jab Kane in the eyes, forcing him to release his hold. Burke delivers a boot to Kane’s midsection and Kane delivers a fist to Burke’s jaw. Burke hits the mat. Kane picks Burke up and sends him into the ropes. Burke comes off the ropes and sends a kick into Kane’s chest, then nails him with an uppercut. Burke delivers a flying dropkick that sends Kane into the corner post. Burke goes to work on Kane sending fists into Kane’s abdomen until the ref backs him up. Burke comes toward Kane again; Kane shoves Burke back across the ring. Burke comes back at Kane again and delivers a boot to the midsection then tries to send Kane across the ring. Kane puts on the brakes and sends Burke flying into the opposite corner. Kane charges but Burke gets out of the way and Kane hits the ring post. Burke comes across the ring to deliver the Elijah express, but Kane grabs Burke by the throat and delivers a choke slam. Kane goes for the cover and gets the three count.

Winner: The Big Red Machine Kane

I truthfully think Elijah Burke has talent in the ring. I know they are pushing the larger wrestlers who will be involved in the Wrestlemania Battle Royal but I would prefer to see Burke in the ring with someone closer to his own size. Kane is always a favorite in the ring as far as I’m concerned and he did a good job in this match even if it was more of a beat down match.

ECW General Manager, Armando Estrada, is backstage with The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry. Estrada tells Henry he knows he is going to do well and Henry says he will do well. Henry turns and is face to face with Chavo Guerrero, the ECW Champion. Henry shoves Chavo out of the way and walks out. Estrada tells Chavo that he was just telling Henry that Henry will be taking part in the 24 Man Battle Royal at Wrestlemania XXIV. Colin Delaney appears and Chavo wants to know why he is interrupting them. Colin says that Estrada wanted him to come in and talk about possibly getting a contract. Chavo gives Colin a hard time but Estrada says that Chavo needs to blow off some steam in a non-title match against Colin Delaney. Estrada tells Colin if he wants a contract, all he has to do is beat the ECW Champion.

Kofi Kingston from Jamaica, weighing 217 lbs.
Vs.
James Curtis, weighing 245 lbs., who is already in the ring

James Curtis has been getting quite a few matches lately. It makes me wonder if perhaps WWE is planning on moving him from developmental into the big time.
Audience favorite: Kofi Kingston
My favorite: I like Kofi Kingston but am starting to enjoy watching James Curtis in the ring

The two men lock up and Kofi has in a waist lock. Curtis turns Kofi around and applies a wristlock tuning it into a side headlock. Kofi delivers a shot to Curtis’s midsection then sends him into the ropes. Curtis comes off the ropes and nails Kofi with a shoulder block that sends Kofi down to the canvas. Curtis comes off the ropes, Kofi drops down to the mat, Curtis goes over him and comes off the opposite ropes, Kofi leapfrogs over Curtis, Curtis comes off the ropes again and Kofi takes Curtis down with a drop toehold. Kofi applies pressure to Curtis’s left leg before allowing him to get back to his feet. Kofi takes Curtis down to the mat with a side headlock Curtis makes his way back to his feet and sends a fist into Kofi’s abdomen then picks Kofi up but Kofi rolls over Curtis’s back and delivers a dropkick that. Curtis goes back down to the mat. Both men are back on their feet, Kofi applies a side headlock and takes Curtis down with a hip toss. Curtis makes his way back to his feet and tries to strong arm Kofi out of the headlock, but Kofi counters him and continues the hold. Curtis sends Kofi across the ring into the ropes, Kofi comes off the ropes and nails Curtis with a shoulder block. Kofi comes off the ropes again, Curtis stays down on the mat and Kofi goes over Curtis. Kofi comes off the ropes once again and Curtis hits him in the midsection with a knee that rolls Kofi over and sends him down to the canvas. Curtis delivers a stomp, picks Kofi up and delivers a fist to the Kofi’s face. Curtis makes a grab for Kofi’s hair but Kofi fights back, knocking Curtis back into the ropes. Curtis comes back at Kofi and Kofi sends an elbow into Curtis’s midsection Curtis responds with an elbow to the back of Kofi’s head. Curtis applies a wristlock and goes to work on Kofi’s left arm and shoulder. Kofi makes it back to his feet, swings Curtis around and nails Curtis with both boots to the face. Both men are back to their feet and Kofi goes after Curtis with forearms to the face and jaw, followed by a fist to the head and a blow to the chest. Curtis goes down on the canvas. Curtis gets up and Kofi sends him down to the canvas again. Curtis gets back to his feet and Kofi delivers a clothesline. Kofi slams Curtis backward on the mat then delivers his signature move (I’m not sure what he calls it), goes across the ring, waits for Curtis to get back to his feet and then charges at Curtis. Curtis sends Kofi up in the air but Kofi rolls over Curtis’s back and lands on his feet. Curtis turns around and Kofi delivers a high kick to Curtis’s skull, goes for the cover and gets the win.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Not a bad match and Kofi does appear to be an audience favorite. Kofi does do some high kicks in the ring and Curtis works well as Kofi’s opponent in this match.

CM Punk is backstage with Festus and Jesse. Punk asks Jesse if he is sure that Festus will be able to handle his part in the match and Jesse says that he will because “that is the face of a man who can take it to the extreme”. You have to appreciate Jesse’s enthusiasm.

Six Man Tag Team Match
John Morrison from Los Angeles, CA, weighing 220 lbs.
One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions
&
The Miz from Cleveland, OH, weighing 231 lbs.
One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions
&
The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin from SC, weighing 248 lbs.
Vs.
Jesse & Festus
At a combined weight of 501 lbs.
&
CM Punk from Chicago, IL, weighing 225 lbs.

Audience favorites: Jesse & Festus & CM Punk
My favorites: I truthfully like everyone in the right but The Miz

Morrison and Jesse spend their time waiting for the match to begin with a lot of sign language. Morrison appears to be referring to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match while Jesse appears to be referring to the capabilities of his tag team partner Festus.

The bell rings and you know what happens. It’s all about Festus as he goes after his opponents. The opponents, in this case, bail out of the ring and try to stay out of Festus’s way. Festus chases after Morrison on the floor around the ring and Morrison trips and falls down. As Morrison tries to go up the entrance ramp, Festus has Morrison by the back of his wrestling attire and he turns him around and sends him back into the ring. Miz comes around the ring and nails Festus before he can get back in the ring but Festus is ready for Miz and he delivers a blow that sends Miz down to the floor. Festus is back in the ring and he nails Morrison with a fist that drops him down to the mat. Morrison gets back to his feet and Festus does it again. Morrison gets back to his feet and one more time Festus throws a punch that drops Morrison in his tracks. Morrison gets back to his feet and is up against the corner post and Festus goes after him, throwing punches into Morrison’s gut. Festus delivers an uppercut that sends Morrison back down to the mat. Festus picks up Morrison and body slams him down to the mat, then turns and tags in Jesse. Festus picks up Jesse and body slams him on top of Morrison. Jesse goes for the cover and gets a two count before Morrison powers out. Jesse picks up Morrison and sends him across the ring but Morrison gets the switch and sends Jesse into the opposite ring ropes. Jesse comes off the ropes and Morrison attempts to throw Jesse over with a hip toss but Jesse comes down with an arm drag and takes Morrison down to the mat with him. Both men are back to their feet and Morrison goes after Jesse but Jesse brings Morrison down with a drop toehold. Jesse comes off the ropes with a short dropkick to the side of Morrison’s head. Jesse again goes for the pin and gets a two count before Morrison kicks out. Jesse tries to pick Morrison up but Morrison sends Jesse into the second rope on the wrong side of the ring. Both men are back to their feet and Morrison delivers a kick to the back of Jesse’s leg then tags in Miz. Miz and Morrison double-team Jesse, sending him across the ring and into the ropes but Jesse hangs onto the ropes. Jesse tags in Punk and Morrison and Miz charge at Punk who is getting into the ring. Jesse and Punk pull down on the top rope and Morrison and Miz go over the top rope and down to the floor. Punk is on the ring apron and he springboards off the second rope taking down Morrison and Miz with a cross body block. Punk is on the floor picking up Morrison, Jesse goes across the ring to the ropes and Benjamin enters the ring to nail Jesse. Benjamin yells at the ref and then attempts to throw a punch at Festus on the ring apron but Festus blocks the swing and has Benjamin by the arm. Festus sends Benjamin over the top rope and onto Morrison and Miz with Punk getting caught in the crossfire. Punk rolls back into the ring and we go to

COMMERCIAL BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH!

Punk takes Miz across the ring and slams him headfirst into the top turnbuckle then follows up with a hard chop to the chest before flipping Miz over onto the mat and delivering a kick to the back. Punk goes for the cover but only gets a two count before Miz kicks out. Punk tags in Jesse who goes for a roll up and gets a two count. Jesse picks up Miz and sends him headfirst into the top turnbuckle and then delivers a boot to the midsection before sending Miz flying across the ring. Jesse delivers a rolling neck snap and goes for the pin but again only gets a two count. Jesse has Miz in a wristlock and he tags in Punk who comes through the ropes and delivers a boot to the midsection and then continues with boots to Miz’s gut. Punk picks up Miz and body slams him to the mat then goes for the cover. Punk gets a two count before Miz gets a shoulder up. Punk continues wear down Miz by unloading knees into Miz’s midsection. Punk is paying too much attention to Miz’s tag team partners, which could cost him. Punk sends Miz into the corner post and appears to be going to deliver a high knee but he allows Morrison, who is on the ring apron, to get his attention. Punk pulls Morrison over the top rope and into the ring, then delivers a high knee to Miz who is still in the corner. Benjamin runs up the ring apron, grabs Punk by the hair and slams him down to the canvas on his back. I don’t know where Morrison went but Miz has Punk in the ring and he delivers boots to Punk’s abdomen and chest. Miz pulls Punk over to the wrong corner and then tags in Benjamin. Benjamin comes into the ring unloading on Punk with fists to the face and head. The audience is chanting “CM Punk” as Benjamin has him in a chin lock. Jesse is shouting encouragement to Punk who is trying to get back to his feet. Punk does make it back to his feet but Benjamin now has him in a side headlock. Punk delivers elbows and follows up with knees to Benjamin’s midsection making him break the headlock. Punk tries to send Benjamin across the ring but Benjamin gets the switch and sends Punk into the ropes. Punk comes off the ropes and delivers a kick to Benjamin’s chest but Benjamin picks Punk up and takes him down with a suplex. Benjamin tags in Morrison who goes after Punk with boots. Morrison goes for the cover and gets a two count before Punk kicks out. Morrison applies a chin lock as the crowd chants for Punk. Punk gets back to his feet and slams his fist into the top of Morrison’s skull and as soon as Morrison releases his hold, Punk goes for a clothesline but Morrison ducks out of the way and delivers a back breaker. It looks like Morrison is going to go for a pin but Punk rolls Morrison up and gets a two count before Morrison can kick out. Morrison continues to work on Punk with his boots and then chokes Punk on the bottom rope. Morrison delivers a European uppercut and goes for the cover but can’t get the three count. Morrison continues to kick Punk and as Punk gets back to his feet, Morrison comes at him, but Punk sends up a boot. Morrison catches Punk’s foot so Punk uses his other boot to deliver a high kick to the back of Morrison’s head. Punk needs to make a tag and he does, tagging in Festus as Morrison tags in Miz. Festus flies across the ring at Miz and connects, sending Miz down to the mat. Festus is back on his feet and he delivers a punch to Benjamin on the ring apron and then to Morrison on the ring apron. The pair go off the ring apron and down to the floor. Festus comes back at Miz with a clothesline and then he picks Miz up and sends him into the corner post. Festus delivers a splash to Miz and then runs Miz across the ring to send him headfirst into the top turnbuckle. Festus goes back across the ring and comes off the ropes to deliver another clothesline to Miz. As Miz gets back to his feet, Festus delivers a boot to Miz’s face and then goes for the cover. Benjamin and Morrison scramble into the ring to break up the ref’s count. Morrison and Benjamin unload on Festus and then double team to send him across into the ropes. Festus comes off the ropes and delivers a kick to Benjamin’s chest and grabs Morrison by the hair as Jesse comes off the top turnbuckle and nails Benjamin with a flying dropkick. Festus sends Morrison over the top rope and out to the floor. Festus charges at Miz who is still in the corner but Miz moves out of the way and Festus runs into the ring post. Miz comes off the ropes and tries to deliver a kick but Festus shoves Miz’s leg out of the way, picks Miz up and slams him face first onto the mat. Festus goes for the cover and gets the three count.

Winners: Festus & Jesse & CM Punk

Not really what you would call an extreme match but a decent match for ECW. I didn’t think Jesse got enough time in the ring but the three of them together did a great job. Morrison did a good job in the ring as well but Benjamin didn’t get much time in the action.

Raw Rebound – a video replay of the match between John Cena and Randy Orton against the entire Raw roster that was broadcast on last night’s Raw. I realize the match was a continuation of the build up to Wrestlemania XXIV, but the match to watch on last night’s Raw was the match between CM Punk and Carlito, both very much underrated as WWE wrestling talent. If you get a chance to see the Monday night match between Punk and Carlito, you should also pay close attention to the referee. He made the match even better.

Styles reminds the audience about the 2008 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The next inductee is Eddie Graham, who was not only a great promoter, he began as a wrestler. Eddie Graham is deceased. Dusty Rhodes will be making the induction.

Colin Delaney is on his way to the ring for his match against ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero.

Tazz is in the ring with Colin Delaney. He asks Colin if he is able to compete tonight after what JBL did to Colin in the ring last night. Colin says he is a little, well, a lot beat up, but if this is what it takes to get a WWE contract, it will be worth it.

Non-title Match
Colin Delaney
Vs.
Chavo Guerrero from El Paso, TX, weighing 215 lbs.
WWE ECW Champion

Audience favorite: Colin Delaney
My favorite: I like them both

Chavo receives mucho heat from the live audience as he enters the ring.

The bell rings and the two men circle each other in the ring before they lock up and Chavo delivers a knee to Colin’s midsection. Chavo picks Colin up and delivers a forearm to the back. Chavo again picks up Colin and delivers a European uppercut as the audience chants “Colin”. Chavo then holds Colin down on the top bottom rope with a boot until the ref makes him break. Chavo picks Colin up and delivers a fist to the forehead. Colin is down in the corner and Chavo uses a boot to choke Colin again until the ref makes him break. Chavo picks Colin up, delivers another uppercut, and then sends Colin across the ring and into the ropes. Colin comes off the ropes, blocks Chavo’s move and sends Chavo down to the mat. Chavo comes at Colin with a clothesline but Colin ducks underneath and comes back to deliver a standing dropkick that sends Chavo through the ropes and down to the floor. Chavo is not happy and tells Colin that he was taking it easy on him but if he wants to play rough, then Chavo will be happy to do that. Chavo comes back up the steps to enter the ring with the audience chanting for Colin. Chavo charges at Colin and knocks him down to the canvas then goes after him with fists and boots. Chavo picks Colin up and nails him with a forearm to the back and then hits him with a double fist. Chavo picks Colin up and slams him to the canvas and then goes to work on Colin’s neck. The audience is getting louder shouting for Colin as Colin tries to get back to his feet. Chavo nails Colin in the chest and then chokes him on the ropes until the ref makes Chavo back off. Chavo sends Colin into the corner post and then grabs Colin’s arm and sends him into the opposite ring post. Chavo charges but Colin moves out of the way and Chavo meets the top turnbuckle. Chavo makes a grab for Colin but Colin comes back with an elbow to the side of Chavo’s head and then another before sending Chavo across the ring and into the ropes. Chavo grabs the ropes as Colin tries to deliver a dropkick. Colin hits the mat. Chavo picks Colin up and goes for the three amigos and he manages to complete two before giving up because Colin is limp. Chavo drops Colin to the mat and goes out on the ring apron to climb to the top turnbuckle. Chavo comes off the turnbuckle to deliver a frog splash but Colin rolls out of the way and Chavo lands fast first on the mat. Colin goes for the cover and gets a two count before Chavo kicks out. Both men are back to their feet and Chavo sends a knee into Colin’s gut and then slams Colin face first into the mat. Chavo goes for the cover and gets the three count.

Winner Chavo Guerrero WWE ECW Champion

Oh, come on! Colin has been beat half to death since he first arrived in WWE. Colin did a great job on the Indy circuit and there is no reason he should continue to get beat on every week. I was hoping that the week that Colin went ballistic in his match against Morrison and Miz that things would change, but it appears Colin is still getting nothing but jobber roles.
