TNA Impact Wrestling
by Kieren Lucas

October 31, 2013

From Salt Lake City, UT.

The show starts with Dixie Carter coming to the ring to announce that there is no longer a TNA World Champion and that there will be an eight man tournament to crown a new one. The participants are James Storm, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, and Chris Sabin. Bully Ray comes out and Dixie says that there will be a gauntlet match tonight where the winner will be entered into the tournament. Mr Anderson charges out and brawls with Bully Ray. Good segment, the tournament could be good depending on the brackets.

TNA World Tag Team Championship:
Bro-mans (Robbie E and Jesse G) © vs. Gun Storm (Gunner and James Storm)

The match starts with everyone brawling on the ramp and the first noteworthy move of the match came when Gunner hit a decent suplex and Storm hit the Eye of the Storm (for only 2). Robbie E hits a Russian leg sweep and a clothesline on the floor. Jessie covers Storm and Robbie E holds onto Storms leg so he can’t kick out.
Winners: Bro-mans
Rating: 1/5

Ethan Carter III vs. Norv Fernam

In a rematch from Bound for Glory we have another squash victory for EC3. Ethan hits a nice big boot and a t-bone suplex. Norv comes out of nowhere with a springboard cross body, which gets a one count. Ethan hits an inverted DDT to get the win and a horrific landing, straight on Norv’s head.
Winner: EC3
Rating: 0.75/5

Gauntlet Match (Winner enters the eight man tournament)

Sting and Kazarian are the first two entrants and it is elimination by over the top rope. Sting hits a back body drop and a suplex before Knux comes out, followed by Eric Young who hits a belly to belly suplex. Christopher Daniels is next out and Sting suplexes both members of Bad Influence at he same time. Manik is in next and hits a double drop-kick onto both members of Bad Influence. Magnus is the next one in the ring . Knux hits a devastating crossbody and Manik eliminates Knux by a springboard hurricanrana over the top. Kazarian kicks EY and eliminates him, Magnus eliminates Daniels and eliminates both Sting and Kazarian at the same time to get the win.
Winner: Magnus Rating: 1.5/5

Knockouts championship:
Gail Kim © vs. ODB

ODB starts things off with a spear and a fallaway slam on the floor. Gail applies a Figure Four leg lock on the ring post. Gail has a head scissors applied but ODB gets out of it with a half Boston crab. Gail misses a drop-kick and ODB hits a front suplex with Gail landing straight onto her face. Gail Kim wins after a rollup. Decent match, nice and physical.
Winner: Gail Kim Rating: 2/5

Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode

This is a rematch from Bound For Glory. The match starts of with some nice crisp and fluent mat wrestling by Angle and a belly to belly suplex. Roode starts working the stomach with a abdominal stretch. Angle hits six German suplexes for a two count. Roode hits a double R spinebuster with also gets a two. Angle then applies an ankle lock but Roode rolls out and applies a crossface but Angle counters into another ankle lock, which is again countered into a crossface. Incredible! They both exchange pinning sequences until Roode again applies the crossface but Angle counters that into an Angle slam, which gets a two count. Roode then hits a Death Valley Driver into a neck breaker. A “this is awesome” chant is started. Angle hits a belly to belly suplex off the top, but like at Bound for Glory Angle is to injured to stand and the referee stops the match. I could have watched that match go on for another hour, great stuff.
Winner: Bobby Roode
Rating: 3.75/5

Overall: 5/10
This show was very good. It had a phenomenal main event with two greats who have very good chemistry and matches that remind me of Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle. I also enjoyed the opening segment and I am looking forward to the start of this eight man tournament.
