TNA: Against All Odds, February 8, 2008

The show begins with Jeremy Borash introducing the South Carolina National Guard under the direction of Sgt. Brett Cobb, accompanied by BG James and Bullet Bob Armstrong. The National Anthem is performed by Joe Trusty of Greenville, SC. BG and Bob were both members of the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi!

The audience reaction was very patriotic with chants of “USA” after the anthem had been sung.

The intro video was a mix of former Presidents intermingled with wrestlers and their statements in the ring. I wasn’t crazy about the video and the comparison between wrestling and the US Government, although TNA did use Nixon, Kennedy and Clinton in the video. Other than that, it there is no comparison between soldiers in battle and wrestlers in the ring. Wrestlers in the ring can walk away and look back. Soldiers do not have that option. Ask BG James if you don’t believe me.

Mike Tenay informs the audience that there are four titles on the line tonight, the first being the tag team belts with BG James and Bullet Bob Armstrong as the challengers.

BG has the mic in the ring and he says that in honor of all the men and women in uniform, not just in Greenville but those who are abroad: God Bless America”, followed by some nice pyros.

Tenay reminds the audience of what happened on last week’s iMPACT. AJ has sided with Kurt Angle and Tomko has sided with The Instant Classic Christian Cage

Before the match begins, AJ has the mic and he wants to talk to Tomko. He asks Tomko why he hasn’t called him back in three weeks and he understands that Tomko wants to be his own man and do his own thing, but then Tomko sided with Christian Cage. AJ says he needs to know what is going on before they start the match. Tomko takes the mic and tells AJ what he needs to know is that their two opponents represent the best wrestling family that has ever been and besides that, they are backed up by the Marines. Tomko tells AJ that he needs to get his head on straight or they will lose their title belts.

The bell rings and BG faces off with AJ in the center of the ring. AJ shoves BG from the back across the ring and then shows off for the live audience. The audience responds with catcalls for the Phenomenal one. The two lock up and AJ has BG in a side headlock. BG tries to send AJ across the ring but AJ hangs on. BG manages to use some slaps to the abdomen and a shove to send AJ into the ropes. AJ comes off the ropes, rolls over BG’s back and does a little running in place but BG responds to AJ by delivering a fist to the forehead that sends AJ to the mat. BG picks up AJ and tags in Bullet Bob. They deliver a double clothesline to AJ before BG exits the ring. AJ rolls across the ring and into the ropes to keep Bob away from him. The referee stops Bob from going after AJ on the mat. Tomko leans over the top rope, points to Bullet Bob and yells something at AJ. Tenay reminds the audience that Bullet Bob Armstrong and BG James attended Marine Boot Camp 30 years apart – Bullet Bob in 1957 and BG in 1987. AJ is back to his feet and face to face with Bullet Bob. AJ gets in Bob’s face and Bob responds with a hard slap to the side of AJ’s head. AJ falls over and hits the mat and goes backward as Tomko leans into the ring and slaps AJ on the shoulder, tagging himself into the match. Tomko enters the ring and Bob backs up to BG’s side of the ring. BG wants Bob to tag him into the match but Bob doesn’t want to do it. Bob walks back to the center of the ring and suddenly Tomko goes over to BG, pointing at Bob still in the ring. BG again extends his hand to Bob in order to allow him to tag out of the match but Bob declines the tag. Tomko comes back toward Bob and is saying something to him while pointing at AJ on the ring apron. Bob delivers a sound slap to the side of Tomko’s face. Tomko grabs Bob and slams him into a ring post and then delivers fists to the head and face of Bob. Bob ducks out of the way and turns around to place Tomko against the ring post where he delivers a hard slap to the side of Tomko’s face and hard chops to Tomko’s chest. Bob reaches over and tags BG into the match. BG enters the ring and the two of them send Tomko across into the ropes. Tomko goes off the ropes and the send him crashing down to the mat. BG immediately goes for the cover but only gets a one count before Tomko powers out. BG again goes for the pin and again gets a one count and then BG tries for the cover a third time but again only gets a one count. BG picks Tomko up off of the mat, takes him across the ring, slams him head first into the top turnbuckle before tagging Bob back into the ring. Bob enters the ring, BG exists and Bob sends a hard chop to Tomko’s chest. Bob continues to nail Tomko with hard chops but the chops don’t appear to be having any effect on Tomko with the exception of making him angry. Bob goes across the ring and delivers a shot to AJ on the ring apron, sending him down. As Bob heads back toward Tomko, Tomko picks Bob up over his shoulder, points at BG and sends Bob to the mat with a power slam. AJ charges into the ring as Tomko gets to his feet and goes for the cover but Tomko drags him off and tosses him back across to the ropes. Tomko yells at AJ, AJ climbs back onto the ring apron but as soon as Tomko turns his back, AJ slaps Tomko in the back to tag himself into the match. As Tomko turns back toward AJ, AJ charges through the ropes and goes for the cover. AJ gets a two count before Bob powers out. As Bob sits up, AJ delivers a kick to the back and then picks Bob up off of the mat. Split screen: one side is the match and the other side of the screen is Kurt Angle, his Mrs., and JB backstage. In the ring, AJ sends Bob head first into a ring post as the three backstage are arguing amongst themselves.

This has got to be the worst call anyone at TNA could make. I can’t speak for the rest of the viewing audience but I did not pay to watch the Angle Show. I paid to watch a wrestling show. If you must have the Angles on camera every fifteen minutes or so, at least wait until the matches are over.

Back in the ring, AJ is delivering shoulder blocks to Bob’s back and the split screen is finally gone. AJ turns Bob around and delivers a fist to the forehead but Bob comes back with a slap to the chest. AJ delivers another shot to the forehead and then another but Bob again comes back with a hard chop to the chest. AJ backs up and delivers a high kick to the back of Bob’s head. Bob goes down to the canvas and BG is looking for a tag. AJ goes for the pin and gets a two count before Bob gets a shoulder off of the mat. BG has entered the ring but the ref stops him and backs him up. AJ gets to his feet and tags in Tomko. Tomko enters the ring and picks Bob up, rolls him onto the mat and goes for a headlock. Bob manages to get back to his feet and send an elbow into Tomko’s midsection. Bob delivers a fist but Tomko comes back with an elbow. Bob is again down on the mat. Tomko stops long enough to give BG, who is on the ring apron, some lip before going back to Bob. Tomko nails Bob with forearms before backing up in the ring Tomko charges at Bob going for a foot to the face but Bob slides out of the way and Tomko nails the top turnbuckle and gets his leg hung up on the top rope. Bob makes a tag in BG while Tomko recovers. BG is in the ring and out charges AJ BG sends AJ to the mat and then nails Tomko as he stand up on the ring apron. Tomko goes off the apron and head first into the guardrails surrounding the audience. (I am assuming there was a tag between Tomko and AJ. I did not see a tag but the ref did not send AJ back out of the ring.). BG attempts to send AJ into the ropes but AJ makes a switch and sends BG into the ropes instead. BG comes off the ropes and ducks a waiting clothesline, the turns and delivers a series of punches to AJ’s face and head before delivering a hard right fist that drops AJ to the canvas. BG then backs up and comes across the ring to drop a knee onto AJ before going for the cover. Tomko is through the ropes, nailing BG in the back before the three count. BG is back to his feet and he goes after Tomko. Tomko picks BG up to go for what appeared to be a power slam, but BG slides off Tomko’s shoulder and wraps his arms around Tomko’s waist. Tomko delivers an elbow to the side of BG’s head. Tomko holds BG around the waist as AJ springboards off the top rope. BG breaks free and gets out of the way causing AJ to dive into his partner instead. Tomko goes through the ropes and out to the floor. AJ turns toward BG and BG delivers a boot to the abdomen and goes for the pump handle slam. BG covers but AJ gets a shoulder up at the count of two. BG realizes that outside on the floor Tomko has gone after Bob. BG rolls out of the ring and nails Tomko in the back. BG rolls back into the ring as AJ springboards off the top rope and delivers a flying kick to BG’s left knee. West and Tenay tell the audience the sound of AJ hitting BG’s knee was loud but I couldn’t hear it over the sound of the live audience. AJ is back to his feet delivering a boot to BG’s head then picks BG up and goes after the damaged knee. It appears BG can’t put any weight on the injured knee. AJ calls for Tomko to get in the ring as BG hangs on to the injured leg. Tomko is in the ring and he and AJ deliver a tornado slam to BG then Tomko goes for the cover and gets the three count.

Who retain the TNA Tag Team Championship

After the match, Bullet Bob Armstrong and Kip James enter the ring to check on BG who is still down on the mat. Two referees appear to check on BG before Bob and Kip assist BG to his feet and out of the ring.

It was difficult for me to tell which team the audience was siding with as the two teams were introduced but it appeared throughout the match that Bullet Bob Armstrong and BG James were the favorites. I personally am in awe of Bullet Bob Armstrong and not just because he is an ex-Marine, but because he has the guts to get in the ring with men much younger than him. Bullet Bob worked just as hard as his opponents in this match. BG James was stand out too and I’m not just saying that because he is an ex-Marine. He did a great job in this match up. AJ and Tomko continue to surprise me with their ability to work so well together in the ring. The match itself was a great opening match with the exception of the split screen halfway through and the injury to BG’s knee.

JB is backstage with the Angles and now so is the camera and sound. Angle’s Mrs. is screaming at Angle, telling him that all he cares about is his TNA world title. It goes from a bitching fest into a screeching fest and I stopped listening – gotta love the mute button on the remote control. She’s bitching about Angle not spending time with her but I have to be honest. If I was Angle, I’d live with earplugs 24/7. At the end as I turn off the mute, Angle calls her a bitch. I may never agree with Angle again, but I agree with him right now.

Tenay welcomes the crowd to Greenville, South Carolina and to Against All Odds as he reminds everyone about the match coming up tonight between Angle and The Instant Classic Christian Cage. Tenay and West then give the audience a run down of the matches they will see tonight.

There is no question about audience favorite in this match up as the audience is cheering Traci on before the match begins. The bell rings and the two women are standing toe to toe in the ring. Payton shoves Traci and then delivers a slap to Traci’s face. Traci comes back with a slap to Payton’s face. As Payton backs up, Traci delivers a spear, sending Payton into the ring post. Traci goes to work with kicks to Payton’s abdomen and then stands with her boot on Payton’s throat as the ref grabs Traci around the waist to pull her off. Payton is under the bottom rope and trying to crawl off onto the steel steps but Traci has her by the leg and pulls her back into the ring. Traci picks Payton up by the hair but Payton rakes the eyes and Traci releases her hold. Payton grabs Traci by the hair and slams her backward onto the mat then sits down on her delivering a series of fists to Traci’s head and face. The ref is counting, Payton applies a chokehold and the ref grabs Payton around the waist to pull her off of Traci. The two face off across the ring from each other, charge and Traci again takes Payton down with a spear. Both women are down on the mat and we have a fight with them rolling across the ring and out to the floor. Payton is back to her feet first and she delivers a blow to Traci’s back then makes the mistake of turning her back on Traci. Traci charges and sends Payton face first to the floor and goes to work pounding on Payton’s back. Traci then delivers a boot to the back, picks Payton up by the hair and sends her back first into the guardrail. Traci follows up with chops to the chest before dragging Payton over to the ring and slamming her face first onto the ring apron. Payton is down on the floor but as Traci approaches she sends Traci forward to land face first on the steel steps. Payton grabs Traci by the hair and delivers another slam face first into the steps. Payton then delivers a kick to the middle of Traci’s back.

I don’t know if the ref has forgotten how to count, but it’s been well over the count of ten or even twenty and this match is still going on albeit on the floor outside the ring. There was no mention of a no disqualification match when this match began.

Payton picks Traci up and delivers forearm shots to Traci’s chin before sending Traci back first into the guardrail. Payton picks Traci up by the hair (the ref is now out on the floor with the two wrestlers) and rolls her back into the ring. Payton enters the ring and delivers stomps to Traci’s back and then her midsection as she rolls over. Payton gets down on the mat and delivers a series of shots to Traci’s face and head until the ref makes her break. The audience is cheering loudly for Traci as Payton picks her up off the mat. Payton sends Traci face first into the top turnbuckle and Traci responds with a hard chop to Payton’s chest. Traci picks up a boot and drives it into Payton’s abdomen, sending her backward. Payton comes back with a boot to Traci’s midsection. Payton again goes to work on Traci with forearm shots before sending her head first into the ring post. Payton then rakes her nails down Traci’s back as the ref calls for her to break. Payton delivers a forearm to Traci’s back and then drives a knee into Traci’s spine before bringing her down back first onto Payton’s knees. Payton goes for the cover and gets a two count before Traci powers out. Payton is screaming NO at the ref as he tells her she only got a two count. Payton goes back to delivering blows to Traci’s back. Traci is on her feet and Payton sends her into the ropes and then chokes her. The ref makes Payton break, Payton delivers a boot to Traci’s abdomen and picks her up by the hair. Payton tries to set Traci up for a body slam to the mat but Traci fights it, picking Payton up and sending her over her back and onto the mat. Both women back on their feet as Traci sends a chop to Payton’s chest and then another before delivery two jaw breakers and coming off the ropes to take Payton down with a boot to the face. Payton is against the second rope and Traci charges, sending both of her knees into Payton’s back. Traci comes off the ropes again as Payton gets back to her feet and drops Payton with a clothesline. Traci goes for the cover and gets a two count before Payton gets her shoulder off the mat. Traci is back to her feet and she goes out on the ring apron to climb to the top turnbuckle. Payton catches Traci and sends her back down to the floor. Payton picks Traci up by her hair and slams her head first into the top turnbuckle and then delivers shoulder blocks to the abdomen. Payton backs up and charges to land another shoulder block but Traci steps out of the way and Payton runs shoulder first into the ring post. Traci grabs Payton, rolls her up and gets the win.

Winner: Traci Brooks

From the look on Payton’s face after the match, I believe we can safely assume that feud is far from over. After the match, Payton goes after Traci again taking her down to the mat. As Payton decides she has had enough, Traci pulls Payton back into the middle of the ring, finally giving up and rolling Payton out onto the floor.

First of all, I want to congratulate these two women on a hard fought battle. Secondly, I would like to note that this may have been more of a brawl than a wrestling match but both women worked hard to make it fast, furious and kept us guessing until the end of the match. I’ve complained before that Traci had not been allowed to show her talent in the ring and this match is one of the reasons she should be in the ring. Payton was no slouch, either. Both women gave it everything they had.

Scott Hudson is backstage with Scott and Petey. He asks them about their match tonight. Petey says all the games stop here tonight. Petey tells Scott if he wants to put it all on the line tonight, that’s fine with Petey. Petey tells Scott he has been working out since before he was born, doing crunches in his mother’s womb and pushups. Petey says he is the definition of definition. TNA – totally natural abs. Petey says he bets he has been working out longer than Scott. Scott tells Petey that he has had more matches defending his titles than Petey has had matches. Scott warns Petey that he is not to copy him in the ring tonight or he will be in for a surprise.

Certain fans have been referring to Petey Williams as Scott’s Steiner’s Mini Me. You have to admit that both of them are well-defined athletes in spite of the difference in size. On his way to the ring, Scott stops at the announcer’s table, sets down his two briefcases and says something to West. West says he must be referring to Petey but Tenay says he can’t even repeat what Scott just said. Tenay said that it had something to do with “smack the you-know-what out of you”. When Scott gets up on the ropes to show off to the audience, Petey does the same thing and copies Scott’s poses the jumps down before Scott can see him do it. Again, I can’t tell which the wrestler the audience favors before the match begins. I like them both.

The bell rings. Petey shows Scott some muscle and Scott shows Petey some muscle. Tenay calls it a pose down. The two lock up and Scott shoves Petey across the ring and onto the mat. Petey applies a headlock on Scott, Scott swings Petey around and throws him down to the canvas again. Petey comes back with a dropkick to Scott’s leg and then comes off the ropes to get caught in a high hip toss take down by Scott. Petey rolls out of the ring. Scott comes out after him and Petey rolls back in the ring and begins to do crunches on the mat. Scott gets up on the ring apron and then back in the ring as Petey comes off the opposite ropes and runs into the immovable force that is Scott Steiner. Petey comes off the ropes again and his clothesline has no visible effect on Scott. Petey comes off the ropes the third time and Scott drops Petey with a hard clothesline. Scott prepares to drop an elbow on Petey but Petey rolls out of the way and begins to do pushups. Scott starts after Petey, Petey rolls out of the ring, Scott follows him out. Petey runs around the side of the ring and slides back in. Scott slides in and receives a backward kick to the midsection courtesy of Petey. Petey delivers a jawbreaker before Scott shoves him back across the ring. Petey goes up in the air and delivers a kick to Scott’s head sending Scott down to the mat. Petey goes for the cover and the ref gets to two before Scott tosses Petey up in the air and down to the mat. Petey is back to his feet and he delivers a hard right to Scott’s jaw. Petey comes off the ropes and Scott catches him and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex. Scott picks Petey up and slams him upside down into the ring post, hangs him there and then goes outside to the floor. Scott grabs Petey’s jaw and pulls his head backward under the bottom rope until the ref makes him break. Scott is back in the ring and he picks Petey up by the hair. Scott sends Petey into the ropes and as Petey comes off, Scott takes him down with a clothesline. Scott drops the elbow, goes for the cover and then does his own pushups. Scott picks Petey up and sets him on the top turnbuckle then climbs up after him and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex down to the mat. Scott semi holds Petey down, the ref counts to one and Scott picks Petey up off the mat again. Scott delivers hard chops to Petey’s chest, sets him up on the top turnbuckle again, climbs up after him and brings him down to the mat with a fall away slam. The ref counts to one before Scott pulls Petey’s shoulder up off of the mat. Scott rolls out of the ring and takes his two briefcases from the announcer’s table. He carries both briefcases back into the ring and sets them up on opposite sides of the ring by the corner posts. On his way across the ring he pauses to deliver a stomp to Petey who is still down on the mat. Scott picks Petey up, delivers a hard chop to the chest that drops Petey down to the mat. Scott picks Petey up and starts to send him head first into one of the briefcases but the ref gets in the way and blocks him. Scott lets go of Petey and heads toward the ref backing the ref away from the briefcase. Petey uses the distraction to deliver a boot to Scott’s abdomen , then Petey turns Scott around and sends him head first into the briefcase. Petey goes for the cover and gets a two count before Scott gets a shoulder off of the mat. Petey comes off the ropes as Scott gets to his feet, Scott catches him, and Petey nails Scott with a hurricanrana and again goes for the pin. He gets a two count before Scott gets his shoulder up. Petey tries to set Scott up for a power bomb, but Scott picks Petey up and slams him down to the mat. Scott goes for the cover but Petey gets a shoulder up at the two count. Scott tries to pick Petey up, Petey manages a roll up and gets a two count before Scott gets out of the hold. Scott charges at Petey and Petey sends Scott into the ropes. Petey comes off the ropes on the opposite side of the ring and delivers a dropkick to Scott’s back. Petey is out on the ring apron. He comes off the top rope with a slingshot to deliver his knees to Scott’s chest but he doesn’t drop Scott. Petey goes across the ring and climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Petey comes off the top to take Scott down with a cross body block, goes for the cover and gets another two count. Petey looks frustrated but he doesn’t give up. Petey sets Scott up with his own move, the Steiner recliner. Scott gets back to his feet and slams Petey back first into the ring post. Petey hangs on and Scott slams him into the ring post again, then has Petey up on his shoulder. He tries to send Petey head first into the ring post but Petey breaks free and sends Scott into the ring post instead. As Scott comes out of the corner, Petey delivers a boot to the midsection and hits the tornado DDT. Petey goes for the pin and gets another two count. Petey has a cut on his forehead. Petey goes after Scott and Scott hits Petey with a low blow out of sight of the ref. Both men are down on the mat. Scott is back to his feet first. He picks Petey up to set up the Steiner recliner but Petey flips over and nails Scott in the face with a fist. Every time Scott leans down toward Petey, he sends another fists to Scott’s head. Petey is back to his feet and he delivers a backward low blow kick behind the ref’s back. Petey sends Scott head first into the remaining briefcase. Petey goes outside on the ring apron , climbs up to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a dropkick that sends Scott crashing to the canvas. Petey goes to the opposite side of the ring, gets up on the second rope and gets the crowed worked up. Petey gets back down and waits for Scott to get to his feet. The camera pans to the entrance ramp and a woman gets up on the ring apron. Petey has Scott set up for a finishing maneuver but he is distracted at the sight. Petey walks over to show off a little muscle to the new girl, giving Scott the opportunity to nail Petey in the back. Scott has Petey up on his shoulders and slams Petey to the mat with a power bomb. Scott goes for the cover and gets the three count.

After the match, the woman on the apron gets into the ring to hold Scott’s hand high in the air.

Both of these men did a great job in this match and in spite of the size difference, both of them took some hard hits. I was impressed with how well they worked the ring. Petey’s speed and Scott’s muscle made the match worth watching.

JB is in the back to tell the audience about the TNA Women’s Championship match coming up, the Barbed Wire Massacre match coming up and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match coming up. Angle is in the room and he chides JB for doing his announcing thing after Angle’s wife has walked out on him and Angle has a very important match coming up. JB tells Angle that he will help him get his wife back by giving him some advice by learning how to treat his wife properly. They have a role-playing thing going on while Angle plays his wife and JB plays Angle. They discuss next Thursday being Valentine’s Day and JB says that they need to renew their vows on TV in front of the whole world. They continue the role-playing when they are interrupted by AJ who seems to think that JB and Angle have something going on.

On his way to the ring, Eric attempts to outsmart the pyros but the pyro guy (or girl) toys with him and Eric hits the entrance ramp. He greets the audience surrounding the ring and even takes a beer or two from fans before running around the audience area to greet more fans. Storm can’t wait for the match to begin and he comes off the ring apron and nails Eric in the back. Storm picks Eric up off the floor and delivers a right hand to Eric’s jaw. Storm then chokes Eric before rolling him back into the ring.

Storm enters the ring and the ref signals to ring the bell and the match begins. Storms delivers a smack to Eric and then sends him across the ring. Eric makes the switch and sends Storm across the ring and into the opposite ropes. As Storm comes off the ropes, Eric dives at him, taking Storm down to the mat and punching Storm in the face. Storm rolls Eric off of him and as both men get to their feet, Eric takes Storm down with an elbow. Storm gets up and Eric delivers a clothesline that sends Storm over the top rope and down to the floor. Eric goes up on the top turnbuckle and dives off to deliver a cross body block to Storm on the floor. Jacqueline is standing too close for Eric’s comfort so he goes after her, but she runs around the ring out of his way. Both men are now on the floor as Eric sends Storm back first into the guardrail. Eric takes Storm back across the floor and rolls him into the ring. Eric starts to get up on the ring apron but Jackie has him by the leg and pulls him back down to the floor. Again Eric goes after Jackie, chasing her around the ring. Jackie rolls into the ring and Eric slides into the ring after her. Jackie goes across the ring and slides out the opposite side. When Eric turns back around, Storm spits something into Eric’s face. Eric tries to clear out his eyes but Storm sends a hard right fist to Eric’s jaw. Storm charges at Eric and Eric sends Storm over the top rope. Storm lands on the ring apron and delivers a high boot to the back of Eric’s head. Eric staggers across the ring and falls through the ropes and down to the floor. Storm jumps off the ring apron and down to the floor. Storm goes around the ring after Eric who is still down outside the ring. Storm pulls up the mat outside the ring and then goes back after Eric. The ref is outside the ring trying to stop Storm but Storm sends Eric back first onto the concrete with a hip toss. Storm rolls Eric back into the ring, goes in after him and goes for the cover. He gets a two count before Eric powers out. Storm picks Eric up and tosses Eric back out onto the floor then goes out after him. Storm attempts to send Eric up and over with a suplex but Eric blocks the move and then Eric sends Storm over onto the concrete back first. Eric picks Storm up and rolls him into the ring. As Eric gets up on the ring apron, Storm comes after him with a fist but Eric blocks the fist and delivers a fist of his own to Storm. As Storm comes back at Eric, Eric leans through the ropes to deliver a shoulder block but Storm brings a boot up and delivers a kick to Eric’s chest. Storm then drops Eric to the mat with a DDT, goes for the cover and gets a two count before Eric gets a shoulder off the mat. Tenay informs the audience that because the South Carolina Commission would not sign off on the Barbed Wire Massacre match because they deemed it to be too violent, Abyss versus Judas Mesias will be shown from the iMPACT Zone in Orlando, FL. In the ring, Storm has picked Eric up and delivers the eye of the storm. Eric hits the mat and Storm walks around the ring antagonizing the live audience. Storm uses a boot to choke Eric until the ref makes him break. Storm then stops to use some sign language to someone in the audience before picking Eric up off of the mat. Storm delivers a series of right fists and open hand slaps to Eric who is up against the ring post. As Storm walks back toward Eric, Eric nails Storm with a boot to the abdomen and then sends Storm to the mat with a power bomb. Eric has his hand in the air trying to get the audience to get louder as Storm struggles to get back to his feet. Storm is up. Eric sends him back to the mat with a clothesline as Jackie gets up on the ring apron to distract the ref. Storm sends Eric across the ring and Eric goes up and over the top rope, landing on the ring apron. As Storm charges, this time Eric catches him with a shoulder block, then slides under Storm to get back in the ring. Eric delivers a belly-to-belly suplex and then goes for the pin. He gets a two count before Storm gets a shoulder off of the mat. As Eric picks Storm up, Storm delivers a jawbreaker and then picks Eric up and body slams him onto the canvas. Storm goes out on the ring apron and climbs up on the top turnbuckle. Storm comes off the turnbuckle with a moonsault but Eric rolls out of the way and Storm lands on the mat. Eric goes up on the top turnbuckle and comes off with a backward moonsault, then goes for the cover. Eric again gets at two count before Storm gets a shoulder off of the mat. Eric picks Storm up and sets him up on the top turnbuckle. Jackie enters the ring and Eric picks her up, puts her on his shoulders, uses Jackie as a battering ram to nail Storm, then slides Storm up on his shoulders and sends both of them to the mat with a double Death Valley driver. Jackie rolls out of the ring and Eric tries for the pin. Eric gets a two count and Storm gets his shoulder up off of the mat. Eric picks Storm up off of the mat, sets him up on the top turnbuckle, Storm turns in around and power slams Eric down to the canvas. Storm goes for the cover with a leg on the ropes but Eric manages to kick out at the count of two. Storm gets in the ref’s face as Jackie gets up on the ring apron with a beer bottle in her hand behind her back. The ref goes to Jackie and tells her to get down as she tosses the bottle in the ring to Storm. Storm takes a drink of beer and as the crowd tries to tell the ref and Eric what is going on, Rhino enters the ring behind the backs of the ref and Storm. Rhino sets up for and takes Storm out with a gore! Rhino bails out of the ring and stands with the audience as Eric goes for the cover and gets the win.

With a little help from Rhino

After the match, Rhino enters the ring with a mic to tell the audience that he has a lot to say but tonight is not the time or place so Thursday on iMPACT, that might be the time or place but Rhino is back to kick some ass. Storm, being assisted by Jackie outside the ring, looks confused as he sees Rhino standing in the ring.

This match was not a “wrestling” match but both men and Jackie did a great job of keeping the action going throughout the match. Everyone involved took hard hits and falls and it was a nice return spot for Rhino.

Tenay informs the audience they will see the Barbed Wire Massacre match from the iMPACT Zone, Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida.

NOTE: What Tenay did not tell the audience was that this match had already been taped and they were not seeing the match “live”.

I was surprised that there had been no word on who had won the match prior to the pay per view.

Crystal is with Jim Cornette who explains why the match could not take place in Greenville, SC, and that the South Carolina Commission did not make their decision until after the match had been scheduled and advertised. Cornette advises the audience what the match will be like and reminds everyone if they do not wish to watch the match or if they do not want young children to watch the match, they should remove them from the room right now.

ODB is one of my favorites and the live audience is all for ODB taking the title away from Awesome Kong. I do have to say that Kong seems to always have the edge even before she had a ringside assistance during her matches.

The bell rings and the women circle each other in the ring. Then they are face to face with ODB mouthing off to Kong. Kong shoves ODB back and screams – not screaming anything in particular, just a blood curdling scream. ODB shoves Kong and then Kong as ODB by the hair but ODB grabs Kong by the hair. ODB then attempts to pick Kong up but she can’t get the job done so she settles for sending a slap to Kong’s chest. ODB delivers another chop and then comes off the ropes to try for a third but Kong delivers a clothesline and ODB is down on the mat. ODB rolls out of the ring and goes after her little silver flask. Saeed comes around the side of the ring to get in ODB’s face and starts yelling at ODB. ODB yells back and calls her a bitch. As Kong sticks her head through the ropes, ODB nails her in the head, sending her back into the ring. ODB rolls in and again tries to pick Kong up. It doesn’t work and Kong picks ODB up but ODB manages to slide over and comes back at Kong with a boot to the midsection and then a smack. ODB tries to send Kong across the ring but Kong gets the switch and sends ODB across the ring and into the ring post. Kong charges at ODB and delivers a splash. Kong delivers a boot to the back of ODB’s head, then she picks ODB up by the hair and sends her through the ropes and out to the floor. Kong goes out after ODB and slams ODB into the guardrail surrounding the audience. ODB appears to have injured her knee when she came back down on the concrete. Kong picks her up again by the hair and sends her into the far guardrail. Kong picks her up and delivers a chop to the chest as the crowd chants “OBD”. Kong rolls ODB back into the ring and the ref checks on her. Kong gets back in the ring and delivers a shot from behind. Kong picks ODB up and slams a fist across ODB’s back. ODB tries to shove Kong away but Kong picks ODB up to try for a power bomb but ODB is fighting back. Kong sets ODB up on the top turnbuckle as ODB continues to swing at Kong. ODB has Kong by the hair and she sends ODB face first into the ring post. ODB tries for the dirty dozen but Kong breaks free and sends a backward hand toward ODB. ODB ducks under the fist and sends a boot into Kong’s chest. ODB has Kong by the head but Kong picks up ODB and sends her across the ring. ODB lands on her feet and as Kong swings with a clothesline, ODB ducks under the outstretched arm and comes off the ropes, diving on Kong, but unable to take Kong down to the mat. Kong slams ODB back down to the mat. Kong picks ODB up off the mat to go for the power bomb and again ODB slides down Kong’s back. ODB delivers a dropkick to Kong that staggers her, but she doesn’t go down. ODB delivers another dropkick that sends Kong back into the ropes. ODB hits Kong with another dropkick but Kong is still standing. ODB gets up on the second rope and dives on Kong, this time taking her down to the mat. ODB tries for the cover and gets a two count before Kong tosses ODB up and off of her. Both women are back to their feet and Kong delivers a knee to ODB’s abdomen, then drops her to the mat with a clothesline. Kong face plants ODB onto the mat and goes for the cover but ODB kicks out after the count of two. Kong gets up on the second rope but ODB is back on her feet and she charges at Kong, sending fists and slaps before picking up Kong and slamming her down on the mat. ODB goes for the pin but only gets a two count before Kong gets a shoulder off of the mat. ODB goes for her flask again and this time she manages to get a drink as Kong gets to her feet on the other side of the ring. ODB delivers a fist to Kong’s chest, then she delivers another shot to Kong’s chest as Saeed gets up on the ring apron to distract the ref. ODB charges across the ring and sends Saeed down on the ring apron with a shove. ODB turns around and Kong delivers two shots to ODB’s face and then nails her with the spinning back fist. Kong picks OBD up and delivers the awesome bomb, goes for the pin and gets the three count.

Who retains the TNA Women’s Championship
With a little help from Raisha Saeed

I like to see women’s matches where women actually work in the ring. O.D.B. is outstanding as both a wrestler and a brawler and she keeps the action in the ring going at a spectacular pace even against someone so much larger than she is. You can’t take anything away from Kong in this match. It is surprising how fast she can move for her size. I am impressed by both of these women. Decent match even if the audience didn’t care for the outcome.

Tenay tells the audience they are going back to Orlando, FL for the upcoming Barbed Wire Massacre match.

Father James Mitchell is in front of the camera at the iMPACT Zone. Mitchell is talking to Abyss also now known as Chris Mitchell about retribution and betrayal. Mitchell is sending his other son, Judas Mesias, into the match with Abyss in order to beat him into submission. Mitchell tells Abyss that he will not stop the match when Judas Mesias is beating him with barbed wire. He says he is going to tell Judas Mesias to send Abyss straight to hell.

Jim Cornette is at ringside in front of the barbed wire ring. Cornette tells the audience TNA will not be responsible for any injury, no matter how severe, to either wrestler.

Judas Mesias is wearing an extremely ugly match to the ring. He takes it off before he enters the barbed wire ring. As Abyss enters the arena, Tenay reminds the audience if they will be bothered by bloodshed to not watch. West reminds the audience that Abyss has been in a barbed wire match before and Judas Mesias has not, giving Abyss an edge. The referee is wearing a long sleeved shirt under his referee’s striped shirt in order to protect his arms from the barbed wire.

The bell rings and the two men walk around sizing each other up in the ring. Judas shoves Abyss but Abyss comes back at Judas to lock up. Again Judas shoves Abyss back and then motions for him to come at him again. Abyss holds his arms out and then points at Abyss as Mitchell looks on from the floor outside the ring. The two lock up again and Abyss has his arms around Judas’s waist. Abyss moves Judas toward the barbed wire, but Judas gets his foot up on the wire and sends back an elbow, forcing Abyss to break his hold. Judas is now behind Abyss and he is shoving Abyss toward the barbed wire. Abyss tries to pull Judas’s hands apart and then extends his arm in order to stop the continued motion toward the wire. Abyss sends back a hard elbow that backs Mesias up and sends him to the opposite side of the ring. Judas charges at Abyss but Abyss catches Judas and has him up in the air. Abyss heads toward the wire but Judas manages to break free and land on the mat. Judas sends a dropkick into the back of Abyss sending him arm first into the barbed wire. Judas continues his assault on Abyss by sending fists to the forehead. Judas backs up and charges but Abyss again catches him and this time sends him into the barbed wire, under his arm and down his side. Mitchell comes around to the side of the ring to check on Judas but Abyss is coming toward Judas. Abyss delivers fists to Judas’s head and face and then charges at Judas. Judas drops down and delivers a drop toehold that sends Abyss into the barbed wire. Abyss is down on the mat and Judas takes advantage by delivering boots to the head of Abyss and then using fists on the forehead of Abyss. Abyss is back to his feet and as Judas goes across the ring and charges at Abyss, Abyss brings up a boot that connects, sending Judas back down to the canvas. Abyss goes outside of the ring and looks under the ring apron. Tenay tells the audience that there are other weapons in this match that can come into play and we assume that is what Abyss is going after. Abyss comes out from under the ring with a barbed wire wrapped steel chair, which he slides into the ring. Judas is still down on the mat as Abyss rolls back into the ring. Abyss picks up the chair and heads toward Judas. Abyss places the chair on the chest of Judas and charges, but Judas manages to turn the chair sideways and Abyss crotches himself on the chair. Abyss is down and Judas is back to his feet with the chair in hand. As Abyss gets back to his feet, Judas raises the chair into the air and slams it into Abyss’s head. Judas nails him in the head with the chair again and then holds the chair over his head before tossing the chair out of the ring. Abyss has a cut on his forehead that is bleeding and Judas goes after the cut with fists and then Judas bites the cut to make it worse. Judas rolls out of the ring and grabs a board wrapped in barbed wire outside of the ring. Mitchell comes around the ring to help Judas get the board in the ring. Judas sets the board down on the mat and Abyss rolls out of the ring. Judas rolls out of the ring after him and catches him, sending a fist to the cut on Abyss’s forehead. Judas continues to pound on Abyss and then bites the cut. Judas continues to pound on Abyss but Abyss sends Judas into the steel steps outside the ring. Abyss then goes under the ring for another board covered with barbed wire. Mitchell is outside on the floor with Judas. Abyss sets the board up between the guardrail and the ring apron before going back to grab Judas. Abyss has Judas set up for a slam through the barbed wire board but Mitchell comes in behind Abyss and delivers a blow to the back. Abyss shoves Judas down to the floor and goes after Mitchell, grabbing him by the throat. Abyss is ready to choke slam Mitchell through the same board but Mitchell is saved when Judas is back to his feet to deliver more fists to the face and head of Abyss. Judas continues to pummel Abyss in the cut on Abyss’s forehead. Judas rolls Abyss back into the ring and goes in after him. Mitchell hands Judas a piece of barbed wire, which Judas uses to rake down Abyss’s arms. Judas stops to show the audience that he is in charge of the match before going back at Abyss’s forehead. Judas delivers boots to Abyss, using a boot to the head to send Abyss down to the mat. Judas picks up Abyss and nails him in the cut again. Judas backs up and charges at Abyss but Abyss manages to send a boot to Judas’s midsection. Abyss has Judas by the throat and Abyss points to the barbed wire board on laying in the ring. Judas sends elbows into Abyss’s jaw making him break the hold. Judas comes across the ring, Abyss picks Judas up and drops him on the barbed wire. Mitchell looks concerned. There are several replays from different angles showing Judas being dropped on the barbed wire board. Abyss goes back outside the ring and grabs another barbed wire board. Abyss sends the board into the ring. Abyss is bleeding profusely from the cut on his forehead and both of his arms. He stops and leans against the guardrail outside the ring giving Judas time to come out after him. Judas sends clubbing blows to Abyss’s back. Judas then uses the barbed wire to get back up on the ring apron above Abyss. Judas gets his arm caught on the wire giving Abyss time to grab Judas by the throat. Abyss sends Judas back first onto the barbed wire covered board outside the ring between the guardrail and the ring apron. Abyss sees Mitchell and starts after him. Mitchell slides into the ring with Abyss behind him. Mitchell is now face to face with Abyss in the ring. Abyss grabs Mitchell up and sends him to the mat with a black hole slam. Judas is back in the ring and he charges at Abyss, going after the cut on Abyss’s forehead. Judas charges at Abyss but Abyss catches him with the black hole slam, sending Judas down to the mat. Abyss goes for the cover but only gets a two count before Judas gets his shoulder up off of the mat. Replay of several angles of Judas being put through the board outside the ring. As Abyss is trying to pick Judas up off of the mat, Judas nails Abyss with a low blow. Judas goes back to work on Abyss’s injured forehead. Judas and Abyss try to send each other into the barbed wire but can’t neither can get the job done. Judas delivers a boot to Abyss’s abdomen and sends him toward the wire. The ref is in the way but Abyss gets stopped in time avoiding sending the ref into the barbed wire. Judas charges Abyss and sends Abyss into the barbed wire board in the corner of the ring. Both men are down on the mat. Both men are on their knees exchanging blows. Judas is back to his feet and Abyss makes it to his feet. Judas continues to pound on Abyss until Abyss delivers a black hole slam on top of the barbed wire covered board. Abyss goes for the cover and gets the win.

I don’t care what anyone says about this match, you have got to be tough in order to face barbed wire no matter what the circumstances. If you have ever been cut by barbed wire, it hurts no matter where the cut might be. I am surprised that Judas Mesias didn’t change his outfit to cover more of himself prior to the match. Both of these talented wrestlers bled for their fans. Not a wrestling match and not really even a brawl but a very different match than the TNA audience is used to.

Scott Hudson is backstage with Robert Roode. He asks Roode if he feels any remorse for what happened to Sharmell at the last pay per view. Roode says that it is unfortunate that it has come down to this but Booker T is the one responsible for what happened to Sharmell at Final Resolution. Roode says that he tried to apologize to Booker T but Booker T refused to accept his apologies and tonight Roode takes all of his apologies back. Roode says that tonight he will shatter Booker T’s jaw and it will not be an accident. .

Without guessing, I can say that the audience favorite in this match is Booker T. I like both men in the ring but since this is a revenge match, I’ll have to cheer for Booker T.

As Booker T enters the ring, Roode goes after him and the ref signals for the bell. Roode has Booker down on one knee but Booker fights back and comes up to take Roode down to the mat. It is a slugfest from the ringing of the bell. Booker pounds on Roode until the ref makes him break. Booker is back to his feet first and as soon as Roode is back up off the mat, Booker shoves him into a ring post and continues the pounding to Roode’s face and jaw. Booker delivers a chop to the chest, grabs Roode by the hair and delivers a knee to Roode’s face. Booker picks Roode up and slams him down to the mat. Booker picks Roode up again and delivers a side slam as Payton is pacing outside the ring. Booker picks up Roode and delivers a hard chop to the chest and then another. The audience is very vocal for Booker T and they get louder while Roode is taking a beating. Booker sends Roode into the ring post and delivers a clothesline. Roode goes down to the mat. Booker tosses Roode over the top rope and down to the floor. Payton appears to assist Roode in getting back to his feet then scrambles out of the way as Booker comes out to the floor after Roode. Booker delivers a chop to the chest that sends Roode reeling into the guardrail surrounding the audience. Booker picks up Roode and drops him gut first into the guardrail. As Roode drops down to the floor, Booker rolls back into the ring to break up the count out and then rolls back out and heads for Roode. Booker delivers a short arm clothesline that drops Roode to the floor just outside the ring. Booker picks Roode up and rolls him back into the ring then rolls in after him. Roode is back to his feet and he goes after Booker with boots to the body. As Booker gets back to his feet, Roode rakes his nails down Booker’s back. Roode slams Booker head first into the top turnbuckle and then delivers a series of chops to the chest and fists to the face and abdomen then delivers a boot to the midsection. Roode drags Booker to the center of the ring but Booker turns and delivers a backward kick to Roode’s head, dropping Roode hard to the canvas. Booker delivers a knee to Roode’s skull and then continues the assault with Roode up against the ring post. Booker delivers a series of forearms to Roode’s face and jaw. Payton appears in the ring behind Booker as the ref is trying to pull Booker off of Roode who is now down on the mat. Booker turns to argue with the ref but Payton comes up and grabs Booker’s arm. Booker turns and nearly nails Payton. The distraction gives Roode time to deliver a lariat to the back of Booker’s head, taking Booker down to the mat. Roode kneels down and goes to work on Booker’s head with a series of fists and then chokes Booker with his boot until the ref makes him break the hold. As Roode as the ref distracted, Payton delivers a blow to Booker who is still down on the mat. Roode sends Booker across the ring and into the ropes. Booker comes off the ropes and Roode delivers a knee to the midsection that flips Booker over and onto the mat. Roode goes for the cover and manages a two count before Booker powers out. Roode delivers a knee to Booker’s chest and then delivers a snap to Booker’s neck. As Booker gets back to his feet, Roode delivers a right fist, keeping Booker up against the ropes. Roode delivers another right hand to Booker’s jaw and then walks across the ring. Roode comes off the ropes but is met by Booker in the center of the ring. Booker has Roode by the throat but Roode delivers an elbow to Booker’s temple, making Booker break the hold. Roode delivers a standing dropkick, sending Booker crashing down to the mat. Roode goes for the pin but Booker powers out at the count of two. Roode has Booker in a chin lock and the audience is chanting for Booker T. Booker fights to get back to his feet and does, sending Roode over to the mat with an arm drag. Booker charges at Roode but Roode gets an elbow up, connecting with Booker and sending him back into the center of the ring. Roode charges at Booker but Booker meets Roode with a boot to the face and down goes Roode. Booker is back to his feet as Payton is yelling for Roode to get up. Roode is back to his feet, Booker throws a right, Roode blocks it, Roode sends a right, Booker ducks under the fist, Booker comes back with a high kick to Roode’s head sending Roode back down to the canvas. Booker is back to his feet and he delivers a blow that sends Roode back against the ring post. Booker tries to send Roode across the ring but Roode gets the switch and sends Booker into the ropes. Booker comes off the ropes and delivers a blow to Roode’s skull. Roode is back to his feet and Booker charges at him but Roode gets a boot up and stops Booker. Roode charges at Booker and Booker takes him down with a spine buster. Booker performs the spinarooni in the center of the ring and heads toward Roode. Roode grabs Booker and sends him through the ropes to the floor outside the ring. Roode is back to his feet and he reaches over the top rope to grab booker by the hair but Booker grabs Roode by the ankles at the same time and takes Roode down to the mat then wraps Roode’s left knee around the ring post. Booker rolls back into the ring. Roode is to his feet but is having trouble putting weight on his left knee. Booker delivers a kick to Roode’s leg that drops Roode back down to the mat. Booker grabs Roode and Roode rakes Booker’s eyes. Roode sends Booker across the ring and into the ropes, Booker comes off the ropes and delivers a kick to Roode’s chest, then a kick to the abdomen, another kick to the chest, and then goes for a high kick to Roode’s head. Roode hits the mat to get out of the way and Booker gets his leg hung up on the top rope. Roode gets back to his feet and charges across the ring at Booker, Booker puts his shoulder down and sends Roode over the top rope and down to the floor. Booker goes out after Roode, sending him face first into the guardrail before rolling him back into the ring. Booker goes in after Roode but Roode has bailed out of the ring with Payton behind him and Roode disappears up the entrance ramp and out of the arena. The camera is following Roode and Booker T. Booker catches Roode and sends him down to the concrete. Booker is still working on Roode but the area is dark and it is difficult to see, let alone follow, the action going on in the back. Roode gets away from Booker and continues to walk away into the parking lt. Booker catches up with Roode again and nails him in the back, sending Roode back down to the concrete. Booker picks Roode up and delivers a chop to the chest. Roode continues to try to walk away with Booker right behind him. Booker grabs Roode by the hair and slams him face first into the brick wall. Booker makes another grab for Roode and the two exchange blows. Roode sends Booker face first into the wall. Roode has made it to a vehicle and he opens the door with Booker coming up behind him. Booker grabs Roode and goes for a punch, Roode throws a punch that sends Booker T reeling around the back of the car. Roode slams Booker into a railing and then opens the driver’s door of the car, drags Payton out of the driver’s seat, gets in the car and slams the door shut. Booker is pounding on the driver’s side window but Roode revs the engine and drives off, leaving Payton and Booker in the parking lot. Booker stares after the car, saying that is isn’t over.

Winner: Double disqualification by count out

This match was amazing. When Booker T first appeared at TNA, I was worried that he might be a little past what could be considered great among the younger talent on TNA’s roster. Not only is Booker still in the running, he can keep up with anyone they throw in the ring with him. Robert Roode is a spectacular ring worker and these two performed absolute magic in the ring during this match. If you haven’t seen these two in the ring as opponents, I suggest you take time to do so. Having the match end in the parking lot with Roode running, er, um, driving for his life was a nice touch.

Angle is backstage with AJ Styles, JB and Angle’s Mrs. Angle says he has an important announcement to make. Angle tells Karen he knows he has been neglecting her and that he has been thinking about himself and that after he beats Christian Cage tonight and next week on iMPACT, they will renew their wedding vows. Angle’s Mrs. appears to be pleased but AJ does not and he storms out of the area. Angle tells Christian Cage that tonight is Christian’s last shot for the title. Angle says he beat Christian last month even though Christian claimed that last month AJ screwed him. Angle tells Samoa Joe he is to stay the hell out of Angle’s way during the match tonight.

Scott Hudson is backstage with Team 3D and Devine. He asks Brother Ray about destroying the X Division but Ray tells him to keep his mouth shut and then says that they have a Hardcore Street Fight tonight and that their opponents do not have what it takes to win a match like this. Ray says they give Machismo credit for having guts and balls even though he doesn’t have the X Division title, he does have heart but they can’t say the same thing about the Motor City Machineguns. Ray tells the MMG, their 15 minutes of fame are about up.

As much as I like all of the wrestlers in this match, the live audience will be cheering for Machismo and MMG. No one wants to see the X Division go away and these are the three roster members who can prevent that from happening.

As Team 3D and Devine make their way down the entrance ramp, Machismo, Sabin and Shelley charge out of the ring to meet them. We have a six man street fight and this is going to be hard to follow. Lethal has Ray, Sabin has Devine and Shelly must have Devon. We have a split screen in order to try to follow the action. Sabin sends Devine face first into the ring post. Ray is in the ring but Lethal comes off the top turnbuckle and sends Ray to the mat. Lethal goes to work with punches and elbows and then dives over the top rope, hanging Ray up on the top rope. Sabin and Shelley are now in the ring. They take Ray up and over as Lethal enters the ring with a sign that says “Use My Sign” and he does use the sign by slamming it over the head or Ray who has just gotten back to his feet. Ray again hits the mat and Machismo, Shelley and Sabin are the only wrestlers standing. Lethal rips the white paper off the sign he used on Ray and it is a metal street sign – a Dead End sign no less. Lethal, Sabin and Shelley all climb up to the top turnbuckle and dive on their three opponents down on the floor. It looks like Sabin took out Devine, Shelley took out Devon and Lethal took out Ray. All six men are now on the floor. Lethal sends Ray into the guardrail. Sabin and Devine are back in the ring and I have lost sight of Shelley and Devon. Back to the ring, Shelley has Devon down in the ring and Sabin has Devine against the ring post. Sabin delivers a fist to Devine before heading over to Ray who Lethal has just gotten back in the ring. Sabin begins to punch on Ray who is up against the ropes. Lethal sends Devine across the ring to the opposite corner, Devine goes up in the air to go over Lethal, Lethal stops before he gets to Devine. Devine is back on the mat and he charges at Lethal who sends him up and over with a back body drop. Sabin and Shelley send Ray and Devon into the center of the ring, smashing Devine between them. Sabin, Shelley and Lethal are all up on top turnbuckles, they take their three opponents down to the mat with simultaneous tornado DDTs. All three go for the covers but none of them get the three count. Shelley goes out to the floor to send in a metal trashcan full of weapons. Sabin slides out of the ring and begins to bring out weapons from under the ring, including a blow up doll (?) and tosses them over the top rope and into the ring. Lethal grabs a metal can lid and delivers a blow to Devine’s back, Devon is back on his feet but Ray is still down on one knee. Lethal grabs a trashcans and nails Devine over the head, then heads over to do the same to Ray. Shelley uses his trashcan by slamming Devon’s face on the bottom of the can. All three X Division wrestlers deliver blows to the skull of their opponents with respective metal trashcans and again Ray, Devon and Devine are down on the mat. They again go for the covers but only get two counts before the shoulders of Ray, Devon and Devine come up off of the mat. Sabin grabs a metal sink and delivers a blow to Ray’s head, then Devon’s head. Devine is outside on the floor battling it with Lethal. Devine has Lethal up against the guardrail and is choking him. Back in the ring, Sabin puts a sleeper hold on Ray and Shelley puts a sleeper hold on Devon. Lethal is back in the ring but Ray and Devon manage to pick him up and send him over onto the mat, dropping Shelley and Sabin at the same time. Ray delivers a shot with a trashcan lid to the top of Sabin’s head. Devine is trying to make his way back into the ring. Ray power bombs the inflatable doll, gets back to his feet and looks to the audience for approval. Devon delivers a shot to Lethal’s head with a metal cookie sheet. Devine uses a computer keyboard to nail Lethal in the head with a computer keyboard and pieces of the keyboard fly everywhere. Ray, Devon and Devine are now the only three wrestlers standing in the ring. Devine delivers a choke to Lethal who is down on the mat until the ref makes him break. Devine sets up a trashcan and uses it to suplex Lethal. Devine goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Devine gets up to argue with the ref. Ray has a kendo stick and Ray and Devine are hanging onto Lethal. As Ray picks the stick up, Sabin charges and takes down Ray as Shelley goes after Devon and Devine. Sabin and Shelley have Ray cornered and they are working on him with kicks to the abdomen and chest. Devon charges into the ring, Sabin and Shelley get out of the way, then deliver a double kick to Devon. They send Devon against a ring post before Sabin hits Devon with a splash and Shelley follows up with an elbow to Devon’s face. They again deliver a double kick, taking Devon down to the mat. Sabin covers Devon but only gets a two count before Devon rolls out. Devon gets back to his feet. Sabin and Shelley continue to double team Devon, sending him across the ring into the ropes. Devon grabs the ropes, Ray is back to his feet behind Sabin and Shelley and he delivers a clothesline from behind, sending Sabin and Shelley to the canvas. Devon sends Sabin across the ring, Sabin comes off the ropes and gets caught in a 3D. Shelley is back to his feet trying to deliver blows to both Ray and Devon. Shelley comes off the ropes and he gets caught with the 3D. Lethal springboards off the top rope and takes Devon down to the mat with a high dropkick. Ray comes after Lethal with a clothesline that drops Lethal. Devine appears to be missing in action. Ray delivers a fist to Lethal’s head as he gets back to his feet. Lethal stands up again and again Ray delivers a fist that drops Lethal. Lethal again gets back to his feet and Lethal receives a board to the skull courtesy of Ray. Outside the ring, SoCal Val is screaming for them to stop the match. Lethal is back on his feet and Ray comes at him with a beat up trashcan. Lethal puts his hands out and Ray nails him over the head with the trashcan. Lethal goes back down to the mat. Val is now on the ring apron still trying to get someone to stop the match. Ray reaches over the top rope and grabs Val by the hair and pulls her through the ropes and into the ring. Someone from outside the ring tosses Ray a cheese grater. Lethal is back on his feet and he grabs Ray’s arm, smacks Ray in the face, takes the cheese grater away and delivers a low blow to Ray. Val is out on the ring apron and Lethal checks on her, then climbs up on the top turnbuckle and dives off to take Ray down with a hurricanrana. Ray has a chair in his hand but Lethal grabs and chair and sends both of them into Ray’s face. Ray goes down on the mat and Lethal goes for the pin. The ref gets to two before Devon pulls the ref out of the ring and down to the floor. Lethal comes across the ring and over the top rope to take Devon down to the floor. Devine charges and Lethal and Lethal puts down a shoulder sending Devine up and over onto the floor. Lethal goes back up on the top turnbuckle as Ray picks up a trashcan lid inside the ring. Lethal comes off the top turnbuckle and delivers a clothesline to Ray, dropping him down to the canvas. Again Lethal goes for the cover and gets a two count before Ray gets a shoulder up off of the mat. Devine enters the ring and charges at Lethal. Lethal delivers the lethal combination and goes for the pin. Lethal gets a two count before Devine powers out. Devon is back in the ring and he takes a swing at Lethal. Lethal ducks under the swing and comes back with a high kick that lands on Devon’s chin. Devon is down. Lethal covers Devon and gets a two count before Devon gets a shoulder up. Ray delivers a full nelson sit down power bomb to Lethal and goes for the cover. Ray gets a two count and Lethal gets a shoulder off of the mat. Val is outside the ring with makeup running everywhere. Devon is back to his feet inside the ring, Ray is trying to get up and Devine and Lethal are still down on the mat. Devon is setting up a table, Val is still screaming and for once the live audience isn’t chanting for the table. Lethal charges at Ray and Devon, but they move out of the way. Ray and Devon send Lethal across into the ropes but Lethal grabs the ropes and hangs on. Devon charges at Lethal and Lethal sends Devon up and over the top rope and out to the floor. Ray charges at Lethal and Lethal ducks under Ray’s clothesline, coming back up off of the floor to deliver a high kick to the back of Ray’s head. Devine is back on his feet with the street sign in his hand. Ray is out on the floor, Devine charges at Lethal with the street sign, Lethal ducks under and delivers a boot to Devine’s midsection, then nails Devine over the top of the head with the street sign. Devine lands on the table and Lethal goes out on the top turnbuckle, coming off with the elbow, taking down Devine and the table. Lethal covers Devine and gets the three count.

No one looks more surprised than Ray and Devon after Lethal manages to win the match single handedly. Lethal saves the X Division and gets the X Division title for his efforts. Ray has the title belt holding it up in the air outside of the ring. Lethal dives over the top and takes Ray down to the floor, taking the title belt away in the process. Val is in the ring with Lethal and The Guru Sonjay Dutt enters the ring to congratulate Lethal on his win.

I do love these six man matches especially with hardcore street fight rules but I hate to try to describe them on paper. Everyone who watches TNA knows how fast and efficient those X Division wrestlers are and anyone who has been around the wrestling ring knows what great hardcore wrestlers Ray and Devon are in and out of the ring. This was one fast paced match that did a fantastic job of giving viewers a good look at X Division wrestlers working together in a match and it did an even better job of showcasing Jay Lethal’s talent in the ring.

Christian says that everyone seems to know where everyone stands but the only thing that matters is the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Christian asks Joe to come to the ring tonight and do his job. Christian says that Joe deserves a title shot but not tonight. Tonight belongs to The Instant Classic Christian Cage. Tonight Christian Cage walks to the ring and becomes the World Heavyweight Champion for the third time.

I am rooting for Christian Cage in this match up and I’m wondering if the live audience doesn’t agree with me on this one. Angle has held the title for quite some time, however, Angle never seems to be able to retain the title without help from the outside. Christian not only knows his way around the ring, he is more likely to take chances that Angle will not take. I’m ready for a title change and I think Christian is just the wrestler to do it.

The bell rings and the two men face off in the center of the six-sided ring. There is some trash talking before both men back up and walk around the ring sizing each other up. They lock up and Angle pushes Christian up against the ring post, Christian turns it around and has Angle up against the ring post with the ref telling them to break. Christian delivers a clean break as Mrs. Angle runs around the ring making an ass out of herself and screeching at what I hope is the top of her lungs. If she gets any louder, the fans in the front ten rows should demand earplugs or ask for their money back. Angle drops down to one knee but Christian goes around and gets his arms around Angle’s waist. Angle switches it, taking Christian down to the mat with an actual wrestling move. Christian gets an arm around Angle’s head and rolls him over, but Angle rolls Christian back over. Angle has Christian in a face lock and then into a side headlock. Christian backs Angle up into the ropes and sends him across the ring. Angle comes off the ropes and drops Christian with a shoulder block, then goes for the cover. He gets a two count before Christian gets a shoulder up. Angle has Christian in a headlock again and this time he takes Christian down to the mat with a hip toss. Christian’s shoulders are down on the mat and the ref counts one before Christian realizes he could be counted out and gets his shoulder off of the mat. Christian manages to get back to his feet and he send Angle into the ropes again. Angle comes off the ropes, Christian hits the mat and Angle goes over Christian into the opposite ropes. Angle comes off those ropes and Christian leapfrogs over Angle. Angle goes into the opposite ropes and comes off, ducking under Christian’s waiting clothesline. Angle comes off of the opposite ropes and nails Christian, sending him down to the mat. The big mouth outside on the floor is yelling at the fans – getting a little close there, Mrs. Angle. Someone is liable to toss a drink in your face. I think Angle’s Mrs. is just mad because the blonde in the front row has MUCH bigger boobs than she does and I’ll bet the blonde’s are real. Angle is just now getting around to drop an elbow on Christian but Christian gets out of the way and Angle meets the mat. Both men back to their feet and this time Christian applies a headlock and takes Angle down with a hip toss. Angle is back to his feet but Christian hangs on. Angle delivers a backdrop suplex but Christian does not let go. Angle is back to his feet and has Christian backed into the ring post. The ref calls for a break but Angle delivers a knee to the midsection instead of breaking clean. Angle delivers a European uppercut that rocks Christian’s head backward and then sends Christian across the ring to the opposite ring post. Angle charges at Christian but Christian slides out of the way, sending Angle into the ring post. As Angle turns around, Christian again applies the headlock and takes Angle down to the mat with a hip toss. Angle is back down on the mat. Angle is back to his feet and he again backs Christian into a ring post with the ref calling for a break. Angle breaks and delivers a fist to Christian’s abdomen, then a forearm across Christian’s back. The camera shows Joe sitting at ringside and watching the action in the ring. Angle delivers a fist to Christian’s jaw and then sends Christian across the ring into the opposite corner post. Angle charges at Christian but Christian sets up a shoulder block sending Angle reeling back to the middle of the ring. Angle goes down on one knee and Christian hops up to the second set of ropes. Christian dives off the second rope but Angle catches Christian in mid air and then flips him over his back and onto the mat. As Christian gets back to his feet, Angle charges at him, Christian side steps and sends Angle shoulder first into the corner post, through the ropes and out of the ring onto the floor. Christian goes outside on the ring apron and climbs to the top turnbuckle. As Angle gets to his feet, Christian dives off and takes Angle back down to the floor. Christian is the first one back to his feet and Angle is trying to stand up. Christian delivers a chop to the chest that sends Angle back against the guardrail surrounding the audience. Christian nails Angle with another chop and then rolls Angle back into the ring. Christian rolls back into the ring and is back on his feet waiting for Angle to stand up in the ring. Christian sets himself up on the top turnbuckle, Angle comes at him, Christian puts up a boot, Angle blocks the boot and shoves it aside, and delivers fists to Christian’s head, then lands a European uppercut on Christian’s jaw. Angle grabs Christian’s leg and pulls him off of the turnbuckle, sending him down hard onto the canvas. Christian is down on the mat favoring his shoulder. West says Christian might have popped his shoulder when he hit the mat. Tenay points out that Joe is now walking around the outside of the ring and is not sitting in the chair by the entrance ramp. The second time both wrestlers were out on the floor, I noticed that Joe had gotten up and was walking around where he could see what was going on outside of the ring. In the ring, Angle notices Joe and says something to him before picking Christian up off of the mat. Angle takes Christian back down to the mat with an overhead suplex and goes for the cover but only gets a two count before Christian gets a shoulder up. Angle goes for the cover again and again gets a two count before Christian powers out. Christian is leaning on the ropes and Angle puts a knee in Christian’s back and uses the ropes to choke Christian. The ref counts to four before Angle breaks and Joe’s shirt appears in camera range. Joe has one knee up on the ring apron and Angle is yelling at Joe again. Joe delivers a fist to Christian’s face and Christian goes down on one knee. Angle nails Christian again with a fist and then stands on the back of Christian’s neck, again using the ropes to choke Christian. Joe is again standing near the action and this time he moves Angle’s foot off of Christian when Angle does not break the hold. Joe is now all the way up on the ring apron and Angle is pointing to Joe and telling the ref something. Christian is trying to get back to his feet as Joe hops down off of the ring apron. Christian manages to deliver a fist to Angle’s midsection and then follows it up with fists to the face and jaw and chops to the chest of Angle. Angle comes back with a fist to the jaw for Christian and nails him with a second fist before sending him across into the opposite ropes. Christian gets the switch and sends Angle into the ropes. Angle comes off the ropes and delivers a boot to Christian’s chest. Angle backs up and comes off the ropes again but Christian ducks under Angle’s clothesline and Angle is up against the ropes on the opposite side. Christian charges at Angle, Angle grabs Christian and suplexes him over the top rope and onto the floor. The ref is down on the floor checking on Christian who is close to the guardrail outside of the ring. Joe appears near where Christian is down as Angle slides out of the ring to come after Christian. Angle tells the ref to get back into the ring and then paces around looking for something, which appears to be a chair. Angle grabs the chair but Joe is standing behind Angle and Joe grabs the chair, taking it away. Joe throws the chair down and he and Angle are face to face as Angle attempts to tell Joe off. Angle then shoves Joe (oops!) and Joe shoves back, sending Angle down to the floor. The ref comes down out of the ring again and as Angle starts back toward the ring, Christian is back on his feet and catches Angle. Christian continues the assault on Angle, backing Angle up against the guardrail. Christian pulls Angle off the guardrail but Angle comes back with a blow that staggers Christian. Joe picks Christian up and slams him into the ring post or ring apron. Angle rolls back into the ring and the ref is in the ring talking to Angle. As Christian tries to get to his feet, Angle rolls back out of the ring and rolls Christian back into the ring. Angle approaches Christian who is up against a ring post but Christian brings up a boot and connects with Angle’s midsection. Christian nails Angle with another boot, then two chops to the chest and as Christian comes back at Angle, Angle catches Christian with a boot. Angle picks Christian up and power bombs him into the top turnbuckle. Angle goes for the pin and gets a two count before Christian powers out. Angle applies a leg scissors to Christian’s waist and keeps him down on the mat. Christian turns himself around and gets back to his feet. Christian rolls over and has Angle’s shoulders down. Christian gets a two count before Angle breaks free. Angle picks Christian up and delivers a series of two German suplexes. He goes for a third but Christian delivers elbows to the side of Angle’s head in order to get him to break his grip. Christian has Angle around the waist and sets him up for what appears to be a suplex but he lets go and Angle goes face first down to the canvas. Both men are down on the mat but we don’t know how they are managing to stay there because if they aren’t dead there’s no way they can’t hear screaming mimi at ringside. Christian rolls over and pounds on the mat trying to get the audience behind him and they do. Both men are back to their feet and as Angle comes at him, Christian sends him down to the mat. Christian sends Angle into the ropes. Angle comes off the ropes, ducks under Christian’s clothesline, goes into the opposite ropes, comes off those ropes, ducks another clothesline, comes off the opposite ropes and this time Christian picks him up and drops him face first onto the mat. As Angle gets back to his feet, Christian tries to once again send him into the ropes but Angle gets the switch and sends Christian into the ring post. Christian grabs the top ropes and goes up in the air, sending Angle into the ring post. As Angle comes off of the ring post, Christian grabs Angle and takes him down back first onto the mat and goes for the pin. Christian gets a two count before Angle gets his shoulders off of the mat. Christian climbs through the ropes to go outside and points to the sky. Christian climbs up the ropes to the top turnbuckle but Angle is back to his feet and he cuts Christian off. Angle has Christian around the waist but Christian bites Angle and shoves him back down to the mat. Christian delivers a frog splash and goes for the cover. Christian gets a two count before Angle gets his shoulders off of the mat. Both men are back to their feet and Angle sends a boot to Christian’s midsection, then slams Christian chest first into the corner post. Angle is back to his feet and as Christian gets back to his feet, Angle tries for the Olympic slam. Christian manages to turn it into an arm drag and he sends Angle across the ring. Angle comes back at Christian but Christian sidesteps Angle and sends Angle over the top rope to the floor outside. Christian goes out of the ring after Angle. Christian picks Angle up and slams him face first into the ring apron. Christian rolls Angle back up onto the ring apron and climbs up on the ring apron with him. Angle is back to his feet and he delivers a blow to Christian’s skull. Christian delivers a blow to Angle’s skull. We have a slugging contest on the ring apron. Angle tries to suplex Christian off of the ring apron but Christian hangs onto the ropes. Angle leans all the way back trying to make Christian release his grip on the ropes but Christian hangs on. Christian loses his grip with one hand and is only hanging on with one hand now. He manages to get his other hand back on the ropes and pulls them both up to a standing position before unleashing elbows to the side of Angle’s head. Christian gets part of the way back in the ring and sends a boot up to catch Angle in the face, but Angle catches the boot and applies the ankle lock while the two men are still in the ropes. They roll through and are back in the ring as Angle holds onto the ankle lock and Christian is down in the center of the ring. Christian rolls over but he can’t break the hold. Christian makes it to the bottom rope and latches on. The ref calls for Angle to break the hold. The ref has to pull Angle’s hands off of Christian’s ankle. Angle is back to his feet and Christian is using the ropes and struggling to get back to his feet. As Christian backs up, Angle grabs him to set him up for the Olympic slam but Christian manages to slide down and bring Angle down in a roll up but Angle rolls through and once again goes for the ankle. Christian manages to work Angle over and roll him up again. This time he gets a two count before Angle breaks free. Angle charges at Christian with a clothesline but Christian ducks out of the way and goes for the unprettier. Angle manages to grab Christian and rake his eyes and then Angle again tries for the Olympic slam. This time he hits it and goes for the cover, but Christian gets a shoulder up. Mrs. Angle is screaming at the ref – and I don’t know why he hasn’t thrown her butt out of the arena yet. Angle is back to his feet first, Christian is still down on the match. Angle climbs up to the top rope and delivers a moonsault but Christian rolls out of the way and Angle meets the mat face first. Angle goes out to the ring apron and climbs up the ropes to the top turnbuckle – and I should mention that the audience is now on its feet – Angle is back to his feet and he climbs up the ropes to meet Christian. Christian shoves Angle who goes back first onto the mat. Again Angle is on his feet and climbing up the ropes to take Christian down to the mat with an Olympic slam. Angle goes for the cover but Christian gets a shoulder up off of the mat before the count of three. Angle picks Christian up and yells at him, then slaps him, as Christian turns Angle around and delivers the unprettier. Christian goes for the cover and gets a two count before Angle gets the shoulder up. Angle delivers a boot to Christian’s midsection and then goes for a clothesline. Christian ducks under the clothesline and Angle nails the ref. The ref goes down and Christian applies the ankle lock to Angle. Joe is now in the ring asking Angle if he wants to give up. Joe keeps asking Angle if he is going to tap but he doesn’t. Angle appears to make it to the ropes but the Mrs. has a grip on Angle’s hand and as Christian pulls Angle back into the ring, he pulls the Mrs. in with Angle. Christian releases the hold on Angle and stares at Angle’s Mrs. Christian and Joe are looking at each other in the ring. Joe points to Angle’s Mrs., looks at Christian and walks away. The Mrs. gets the bright idea to shove Christian. She does it again and then slaps him. Christian has her by the throat and Joe does not intervene. Angle is getting back up on the opposite side of the ring and as Angle charges at Christian, Christian moves out of the way and Angle delivers a splash to his Mrs. Christian rolls Angle up but Angle gets a shoulder up before the count of three. Christian and Angle hit each other with clotheslines and both men are down in the ring. Joe hops out of the ring to drag out Angle’s Mrs. and has her over his shoulder. Joe sets her down in the chair at ringside, points to her and heads back to the ring. Christian is getting back to his feet, the ref and Angle are still down on the mat when AJ Styles appears on the ring apron. AJ appears ready to springboard off of the top rope but Joe has him by the leg and pulls him down to the floor. Joe slams AJ into the guardrail and we now have a battle going on outside of the ring. Joe charges and sends AJ over the guardrail and into the seating area, then goes over after him. Angle is outside the ring with a chair. He slides the chair into the ring as Joe and AJ fight their way to the back of the arena. Angle is in the ring with the chair in his hand as Christian gets back to his feet. Angle swings the chair and Christian ducks out of the way. Christian delivers a boot to Angle’s abdomen, picks up the chair that Angle dropped but Angle delivers a low blow and Christian drops the chair. Angle again picks up the chair and nails Christian in the back. Angle still has the chair in his hands and as he lifts it over his head, Tomko hits the ring and removes the chair from Angle’s grasp. Tomko and Angle are face to face before Tomko reaches and picks up Christian, dropping him to the mat. Angle pulls the ref over and goes for the cover. Angle gets the three count.

Winner: Kurt Angle

retains the TNA World Heavyweight title

Here’s one for you wrestling fans…

Question: How many wrestlers does it take for Kurt Angle to win a Championship Match?

Answer: Several that we know of, because Kurt Angle can’t seem to win a match on his own.

This match was hard fought and I am always glad to see Christian Cage in the ring. His in ring work did not appear as smooth in this match as they have in the past. Whether that was because he was having a bad day or just because things were not going his way, I couldn’t tell. Angle did a decent job in the ring although Christian seems to be able to keep up with Angle in the technical wrestling department. I’m sorry Christian didn’t get the title belt this time around and hope that next time he faces the TNA Heavyweight Champion he comes out with the gold belt around his waist. I was surprised at how well Joe managed to stay out of things during the course of the match only getting involved when it was absolutely necessary. Kudos to Joe for taking AJ out of the arena and for not interrupting when Christian had his hands on Angle’s Mrs. You don’t want to know my opinion of Tomko after seeing this match.
